Duncan Lamont was born in Oban, Argyll, Scotland and lived on the Isle of Islay until he was eight. Following his schooldays in Perth, Duncan studied graphic design and typography at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, and on graduating became employed in the design business as a graphic designer and illustrator.
On his return to Scotland Duncan, gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Jordanhill College and spent several years teaching at Cardonald College in Glasgow where he became the Senior Lecturer and Section Leader in graphic design. During this period he continued to work as a freelance designer and used his own photography in many of his projects.
Passionate about the Scottish landscape as well as Gaelic culture, traditions and music, Duncan enjoys what Scotland's outdoors has to offer and has a keen interest in photographing the grandeur of the Scottish Highlands and islands.
Having recently established a Taynuilt-based design consultancy, Cruachan Creative, Duncan continues to work as a graphic designer, illustrator, copy writer, photographer and teacher.
He remains in contact with Scottish Further and Higher Education through his continuing role as an External Verifier in Art and Design for the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
